Choosing Natalie Bois as our Stylist of the Month was a no-brainer. As a the Director of Milka Interiors, Natalie provides clients with great solutions for their interiors - and lately, she's been using Mocka here and there. When designing, Natalie seamlessly binds practicality with a contemporary look and feel. While children’s bedrooms are her area of speciality, Natalie’s use of our Basse Table and Jesse Low Sideboard prove her knack for visual balance doesn’t stop with rooms for the little ones. With that said, here’s four tips from Natalie on how to use some of Mocka’s most coveted products in your own projects.
1. Consider your colours
The Mocka Post Box is a wonderful storage solution that gives a streamlined look to any space. The simple and timeless design, coupled with the array of colours available, makes the Post Box an easy piece to style. When styling a Post Box in a bedroom, avoid mixing too many colours. Instead, introduce a two or three colour combo. After all, balance is the key to simple styling.
2. Be mindful of age
When sourcing products for a child’s bedroom, choose pieces that are affordable and that will last the transition from baby to toddler. Styles often change during this period, so staples which are less likely to date are always the better option. Products like the Maya Ladder Shelf and the Hang It All are great examples. Both are fun, yet timeless pieces that function in various rooms from the bedroom, to the playroom, entrance, or bathroom.
3. Avoid Clutter
As opposed to overwhelming your coffee table with ornaments and knick knacks, pick a few main statement items that reflect your style. This will create a minimal look making your space feel tidy and uncluttered. The Basse Table is a good canvas piece to achieve this through, with a classic and minimal Scandinavian feel.
4. Balance through heights
When styling pieces like the Jesse Low Sideboard use objects that are different heights, scale and shapes. This will actually help to create balance and flow throughout the space while giving the room a cool, calm and collected ambience.
